Kullu – The Valley of Gods
Kullu the largest valley in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district attracts large number of tourists every year. It finds its place at the bank of the beautiful Beas River. The valley is famous for its holy temples, natural beauty and majestic mountains covered with Pine and Deodar Forest. Kullu is also famous for its sprawling Apple Orchards and the panoramic view of the great Himalayan range.Once you are at Kullu, you must also visit its famous Handloom Shawl Factory noted for its shawls made from natural fibres of pashmina, sheep-wool and angora.Kullu is known as the ‘Valley of Gods.’ Holding true its name, it has number of holy temples of Raghunath Temple of Lord Rama, Maha Devi Tirth Temple popularly known as Vaishno Devi Mandir, Bijli Mahadev Temple, Shringi Rishi Temple of Rishi Shringi.Kasol is another excellent scenic spot near Kullu. Kasol is an open glade by the banks of the river Parvati. It has clean white sand that separates the lush green grass from the river water. It is also a good spot for trout.

The speciality of the temple is that, it is made up of ‘mudwashed stone and has intricately carved wood with a four layered pyramidal top.To experience medicinal benefits of a natural hot water spring you should visit the Vashist village. Vashisht village is a slightly quieter and more compact version of Old Manali! Sage Vashisht was Lakshman’s Guru (Lakshman from the great epic Ramayan). These hot water ‘Kund’ are located at the center of the village surrounded by enchanting greenery all around.Another common site in Manali is of Tibetan monasteries. The unique features of these monasteries are that it represents the Tibetan style of architecture, the handicrafts of Tibetan artistry and the carpets that are woven and sold in the monastery. This, over the time has attracted enough attention from the tourists.If you decide for a longer stay, you could even visit Manali’s Bird Santuary and Pin Valley National Park where you can spot various bird species, Siberian Ibex and if you are lucky enough you could even see an endangered species of Snow Leopard!
